Went to my favourite bookstore this weekend. They usually had troves of used books for sale, including magazines. I always prefer used magazines as they’re much more cost-effective, I don’t really need the most up-to-date editions anyway, I only need the pictures to put it bluntly. Also, I’m kind of new to magazines and I feel like the older ones generally have better paper / print quality than the new ones? My favourites are 2013 to 2015 editions as they’re not too old so they’re still in reasonable condition, but not too new either as to be printed on those subpar papers.

Anyway, they didn’t have any of the usual fashion magazines for some reason, not even one (did someone hauled them all?), but I was already there and I didn’t want my 30 minutes drive just to get there to go to a waste. The next best thing they had were quilting magazines. I never bought any of those, but decided to give it a try. They were from 2013, so sweet spot, and was reasonably thick, at about 52 pages each. The condition leaves a lot to be desired but… better than nothing.

Anyone here have experiences with quilting magazines? I’ve never seen one before.

  1. I’ll talk about what I knew
They may be a bit different by country, at least here in Brazil, quilting magazines aren’t worth for our purpose.
You should look for the ones You know, and sure they will fit on your desires according to the “checklist”. (Your own preferred stuff, like hot girls on cover, or summer fashion issues, or make up special issues, or number of pages with pictures, or known average number of ads with sexy woman, or the thickness,… Or an average of everything)
You may try buy on internet market places/second hand sites like Olx or Ebay or similar.
May be a bit expensive, or You may need be patient to find “one time in life” offer, from someone selling his huge collection at a “free” price. I was lucky twice, many years ago.
Got around 15 Nova Cosmopolitan in one purchase, and around 20 Boa Forma on another time.

I’m sure is far worthy than waste your money on quilting magazines.
And according to the seller, You may try negotiate and get a discount purchasing more editions.

At least here, quilting magazines “are boring”.

Hope You find good ones at a fair price!
